Irwin Mine and Tunneling Supply Expands Rock Dusting Equipment Offering with New Acquisition

Irwin, PA, August 25, 2014 – Irwin Mine and Tunneling Supply, an affiliate of Irwin Car and Equipment, purchased the Rock Dust Storage Bin and Hopper Slinger Duster technology from American Mine Services, based in Rocky Gap, VA.  This acquisition broadens Irwin’s complete single-source supplier offering to now include above ground bulk rock dust storage systems and an alternative rock dusting equipment option.

William Baker, President and CEO of Irwin Car and Equipment, commented:  “The recent acquisition along with our TDT line purchased in January 2014 enhances our rock dusting product line offering.  We are now capable to service all of our customer’s rock dusting requirements.”

The Rock Dust Storage Bin Systems include heavy duty steel hopper and support structures that are integrated with a reliable hopper bottom aeration dust transfer blower system. Controls are included to maintain safe and consistent rock dust flow from above ground to the underground dust loading point.  Typical 50, 100, and 150 ton bin capacities are available.

The Hopper Slinger Duster includes a sturdy welded / (2) auger construction with rock dust hopper capacities ranging from 2000 to 4500 pounds.  The self contained scoop mounted design incorporates very safe and operator friendly features, thus eliminating the need for manual scoop blade operation to maintain rock dust loading into the flinger.

These new product additions will complement Irwin’s existing Rock Dusting equipment product lines inclusive of Trickle Rock Dusters (Worm & Belt Driven), Pull Behind Flinger Dusters, Scoop Flinger Dusters, Scoop Road Dusters, and Bulk Rock Dusters.
